GameShark Advance!

Most people are familiar with the GameShark company and their liaison with the gaming world. If you're not, here's a quick explanation. Gameshark makes cheating devices for various systems, including handhelds and consoles. They are basically the successors of Game Genie, which is long dead, but not directly. With a Gameshark, its main function is to manage codes which you enter, that change functions in the game you are playing, which are cheats. However, some of them are equipped with other nifty things, especially the GameShark Advance, se here's the scoop.

To begin, GameShark Advance will offer the classic code feature, which work specifically for each different game. You can acquire these codes once you get your hands on a unit either at GameShark.com or any other cheat site that offers GameShark codes. Primarily, this is enough to make you want to buy a GS Advance since we all like to maximize out gaming experience, or if we are completely stagnant in a game, heaven forbid. But that's not all the GS Advance will offer.

The unit will have a "SnapShot" feature. For those unfamiliar, its a save feature that many emulators use. Unlike in-game saves, snapshot saves store the info to the very fame of the game. So you can save the game wherever you are, even if the game has a password save feature or no save feature at all. This is very convenient for all those arcade games in which you have to start from the beginning every time. Specifically, Earthworm Jim on GBA really needs a GameShark Advance for full enjoyment. To add, the snapshots are downloadable from the PC via a USB PC link cable, which comes with the unit. This way, you can even get either store your snap shots on your computer if you run out of space on the GameShark, or if you feel like downloading snapshots from someone else.

Also equipped with the GameShark will be a CodeSave feature which as it states, saves all the codes entered into the system, so you don't have to type out those digits every time you want to cheat, like the GB/GBC GameShark.

Concerning compatibility, the GameShark Advance works only for Game Boy Advance games, since the cartridges are different. That's a real disappointment since a lot of older Game Boy games are really great, but don't come with a save feature. GameShark Advance will be released sometime in July, 2001 for a low price of $39.99 USD. So be ready for infinite ammo, access to all levels, invincibility, invisibility and many more enjoyable cheats which will satisfy your gaming hunger.
