Komik Strip Internet Explorer 9 vs Firefox 4

Staf Ahli Menteri Ristek bidang Teknologi Informasi, Komunikasi, dan Transportasi Dr Ir Engkos Koswara APU mengatakan hal itu di sela-sela ASEAN Workshop to Draft the Implementation Plans of COST (Committee on Science and Technology) Flagship Programmes yang digelar di Bandung, Selasa (3/5/2011).

Antisipasi Makin Maraknya Ancaman Dunia Maya

Kedua, jangan pedulikan spam.

Scott Henderson, seorang pensiunan tentara AS yang merupakan pengamat dan penulis The Dark Visitor: Inside the World of Chinese Hackers pernah menyebutkan pada DNA India.

Video Games : Industry and Culture

Introduction
We all play video games; and if you're reading this then it is more than just a diversion. It has become a passion, an obsession, and for some a possible career.
The video game industry and culture are related in such a way that not understanding one part will cause failure in the other. Misreading the culture will cause the budding game designer to fail in the industry. Without understanding the industry, the game will not be able to flourish.

Cultural History of Video Games
Looking back at the history behind video games, it seems that one of the very first examples was written merely to test the capabilities of a new computer system, the PDP-1. This was, to my mind, the first true video game.
What is more important is the circumstances : the designers of the PDP-1 wanted to create an application that would show off their new machine. The video game fit the bill perfectly.
This remains true today. Video games are real time systems, they have advanced graphical and sound capabilities and respond to the user immediately. A video game pushes the hardware to its' limits.
If you want to make up your own mind who was the true 'Father of Video Games', the site http://www.pong-story.com/inventor.htm has a statement written by Ralph Baer. Mr. Baer is, again, in my opinion, the inventor of the commercial video game.
He created the first console that could be linked up to a standard television set, which was a commercial success. The system was manufactured by Sanders Associates in 1967, and was licensed to Magnavox in 1970. It became the heart of the Odyssey 1TL200, hitting the market in 1972, and selling one hundred thousand units.
Baer had created an industry.
The first video games, such as PONG were entirely abstract. This trend continued with games such as Pac Man, until Space Invaders launched the familiar 'blow things up' video game that we know and love today.

Video Game Culture
Largely the domain of 16-24 year old males, video games are almost always associated with violence, sex, and everything that is wrong with society. Girls, for example, do not play games. Nor do teachers or priests.
The reason is simply because they are viewed as either a complete waste of time, or something that taps into the inner psyche of the human mind in such a way as to be actively harmful.
While this may or may not be true, the most popular video games revolve around guns, cars, or a mixture of guns and cars. With a good measure of impossibly proportioned female protagonists thrown in. Lara Croft. The Dead or Alive girls, now starring in Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball. Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
What's more, adding female characters only entices male players, and adding muscle bound male characters also entices (jealous) male players. Clearly, there is something entirely male about video games.
It has been suggested that girls prefer the abstract game. Sonic the Hedgehog, Pac Man, Animal Crossing, Tetris, those kinds of game. Where the pace is a little less frenetic, and there is more emphasis on puzzle solving than knowing ten ways to stealthily kill a soldier.
There are also those girls who take it all in the same way as their male counterparts, and love it. You can find them at http://www.womengamers.com/ http://www.gamegirlz.com and http://www.gamegirladvance.com .
As a side note, those games which appeal to both sexes, and are designed as such, do not usually sell widely to both sexes. A game that is focussed on the male gamer (with cars, sex or guns, and preferable a mixture) will sell more units than one aimed at both male and female gamers; the female gamers do not make up for the alienation of those male gamers not excited by the game.

The Industry
The cost of making a game is proportional to the inventiveness of the idea; if nobody has ever done it before, there is no residual talent, and it will take a long time, and hence be rather expensive.
Then again, if it is based on licensed technology bought in from another studio, then it will also be quite expensive. Small, technologically simple games, such as Tetris, Pac Man and so on are, these days at least, reasonably inexpensive to design and build.
Traditionally, creating a commercial game, of the expensive kind, takes a studio and a publisher, and possibly even a distributor. The studio creates the game, with money lent by the publisher, who then distributes the finished product and pays royalties to the studio.
This model changes if the studio self-publishes, via a shareware or electronic distribution. There is also the possibility to acquire funding via a smaller, entry product, or a third party.
It is not easy. Having a good idea, and being able to create a workable plan and perhaps even a demonstration product will help to persuade an investor (publisher or otherwise) but is no guarantee of success.
Publishers tend to stick to a genre (or market) that they know well, and not explore other avenues. Hence, choosing the right one to approach is key, as is knowing what they have done before.
Finally, a word about timescales. Games take upwards of 10 months to create; some games over two years. What is in vogue now might not be in three years time when it hits the shelves, so garnering interest early, and catching the wave of enthusiasm is vital.

Essentially, the gaming public will wait, as long as they believe that the product is worth waiting for. Know, catch, and hold on to that market.

GameShark Advance!

Most people are familiar with the GameShark company and their liaison with the gaming world. If you're not, here's a quick explanation. Gameshark makes cheating devices for various systems, including handhelds and consoles. They are basically the successors of Game Genie, which is long dead, but not directly. With a Gameshark, its main function is to manage codes which you enter, that change functions in the game you are playing, which are cheats. However, some of them are equipped with other nifty things, especially the GameShark Advance, se here's the scoop.

To begin, GameShark Advance will offer the classic code feature, which work specifically for each different game. You can acquire these codes once you get your hands on a unit either at GameShark.com or any other cheat site that offers GameShark codes. Primarily, this is enough to make you want to buy a GS Advance since we all like to maximize out gaming experience, or if we are completely stagnant in a game, heaven forbid. But that's not all the GS Advance will offer.

The unit will have a "SnapShot" feature. For those unfamiliar, its a save feature that many emulators use. Unlike in-game saves, snapshot saves store the info to the very fame of the game. So you can save the game wherever you are, even if the game has a password save feature or no save feature at all. This is very convenient for all those arcade games in which you have to start from the beginning every time. Specifically, Earthworm Jim on GBA really needs a GameShark Advance for full enjoyment. To add, the snapshots are downloadable from the PC via a USB PC link cable, which comes with the unit. This way, you can even get either store your snap shots on your computer if you run out of space on the GameShark, or if you feel like downloading snapshots from someone else.

Also equipped with the GameShark will be a CodeSave feature which as it states, saves all the codes entered into the system, so you don't have to type out those digits every time you want to cheat, like the GB/GBC GameShark.

Concerning compatibility, the GameShark Advance works only for Game Boy Advance games, since the cartridges are different. That's a real disappointment since a lot of older Game Boy games are really great, but don't come with a save feature. GameShark Advance will be released sometime in July, 2001 for a low price of $39.99 USD. So be ready for infinite ammo, access to all levels, invincibility, invisibility and many more enjoyable cheats which will satisfy your gaming hunger.

Computer Game Cheats

PC Game Hint Codes Can Prolong Video Game Experience for Players

Video game cheat and hint websites are all over the Internet. Some claim to have the best game cheats available, but when more closely examined one finds that many are outdated and do not provide access to the latest and most popular PC game cheats. Some people might balk at the thought of using cheat codes to get around a difficult boss or an extremely complex puzzle, but for many finding the correct PC game hint or cheat code can be just as frustrating as the game itself.

Fortunately, things have come a long way from the days when gamers had to buy something like the Game Shark to make their game play easier. With hundreds of thousands of gamers out there on the Internet there are many different places to find the special codes or video game walkthroughs to help move on to the next part of the game. This article is intended to help gamers find the best game cheat web sites for the most popular current PC video games.

The Best Video Game Cheats for PC Gamers

When a person does a search for things like where to find the best game cheats it is not uncommon to have to muddle through dozens of sites before coming to the 1 or 2 that have the cheat codes or hints that you need. The ironic part of this search is that in the end, some of the best game cheat websites are not solely dedicated to that topic. Instead, many of the best sites for finding useful and relevant pc game cheats belong to major retailers that sell the games themselves.

For PC games, one of the absolute best sites to start at for finding cheats is the video game retailer, GameSpot. GameSpot is actually a division of the computer technology giant, CNET.

The power and research abilities of the CNET empire trickles down to GameSpot by providing many options for finding game-specific cheat codes for many of the most popular video games currently being sold. Each video game sold by the company includes its own special hints and cheats page on which can be found information about the game, codes for accessing secret levels or abilities, and in some cases links to complete video game walkthroughs. In addition to PC games, users can find pages on video games from the major console gaming systems as well such as the xbox, wii, and playstation.

Find the Best Game Cheats by Going to the Gamers Themselves

One need not go to a commercial video game retailer to find the best cheats. Community gaming sites that are dedicated to a specific game are often the best place to get help with any part of a game, not just the parts that have been well documented. For example, cheat codes are great IF there is a code that allows the user to get around a difficult part of the game. If no such code exists, the only place to turn is to ask another player how to solve the problem.

Fan sites and other game specific sites are the perfect place to ask for and receive help with difficult parts of games that commercial oriented PC game cheat sites cannot provide.

The Best Free PC Game Downloads

Best PlacesTo Find Free Computer Games To Download and Play

Computer games are big business, with users spending millions of dollars each year on the latest and greatest games for their Mac computer, PC, or video game system. With computer games averaging $35 or more for new releases, some individuals want to find something to occupy their time and expand their imagination without breaking their bank in the process. Luckily there are many places to find the best free computer game downloads for PCs.

Free PC Game Download Options

Many web sites that specialize in providing links to PC game downloads, both free and otherwise. The key is finding the download sites that provide accurate and useful information about the game prior to the user downloading it. Large PC games can take a long time to download, even on a high speed connection. Because of this fact, look for web sites that provide user submitted or staff written reviews or comments on each file. Sites such as the aptly named Download.com and Gamespot are excellent sources of this information, however finding games that are truly free on these sites can be difficult unless the search is properly set up.

Searching For The Best in Free PC Game Downloads

When searching for free PC game downloads at Download.com, the user types a descriptive phrase into the search box for the genre of game that is desired. In the results that follow, there will be an option in the left column of the page that allows the user to select "Free To Try" or just "Free." Clicking on the "Free" option limits the search results down to games that are truly free and available for download through the web site. Further, each of these games may have hundreds of reviews written by users or fans of the game. Some also include professional reviews by the editors of the site.
PC game download sites such as Gamespot are a little more difficult to navigate but still contain useful information and links. Most of the games at Gamespot are demos, meaning that they are only partial or crippled versions of the full game. By typing a search phrase such as "RPG -demo" a user can effectively remove any results that are clearly demo versions of commercially available games. At the same time, demos are not a bad way to go for people who really do not know what they are looking for in a PC game. Playing a free PC game demo can help a user decide that they are willing to pay a little more for the full version at a later date.

External Video Cards and GPU's

What Are External Graphics Processing Units (GPU)

All computers have video cards but the vast majority are either soldered directly onto the motherboard or installed as a separate add-on card placed in an empty AGP, PCI, or PCI-e slot. Today there is another option, external video cards that plug into the computer via a USB connection. These new external video cards are intended primarily for power users and those that want to run multiple monitors. By moving the image processing functions outside of the PC these GPU's can provide great performance benefits for everyday users as well. This article attempts to explain a bit about exactly what external video cards can and can not do to improve the overall experience of using a computer.

Benefits of External Video Cards and GPU's

While external GPU's are equally at home on a desktop computer they are being targeted at gamers with laptops due to the traditionally lackluster performance of most integrated laptop video cards. In most cases laptop GPU's share the laptop's physical memory, degrading performance and making processor intensive games suffer in quality. With an external card doing the video rendering most laptops will experience a significant boost in overall Frames Per Second (FPS) when playing games.
Adding an external video card is incredibly easy with most plugging directly into the computer's USB port (USB v2.0 ports are needed for the best performance). Some, such as the Asus XGstation connect using a the ExpressCard slot built into most newer laptops (card not included) to provide users with even more power as well as the flexibility of being able to overclock the card. The Asus also provides dual DVI connections for running two separate monitors at the same time. This makes such external GPU products excellent for not only gamers but also for professionals wanting to provide audiences with crisp, high definition video and other graphical presentations. Such high demand processing would force any internal GPU to produce high amounts of heat. With external video cards heat is not an issue due to the dedicated cooling devices found on most units.

Drawbacks to External Video Cards and GPU's

While the performance benefits of an external video card are very enticing, such GPU's are not for everyone. Primary among their drawbacks is the fact that a user must haul around another device in addition tot the laptop. Most external GPU's also require a dedicated power connection and ship with a bulky transformer. Lastly, while many units are fairly slim and lightweight, high end units such as the aforementioned XGstation are rather bulky and may not fit nicely into an existing laptop bag.
These drawbacks aside, external video cards can make a huge difference in enjoyment of a laptop computer when using demanding applications. Costing far less than the cost of replacing a laptop, external GPU's are poised to be very popular accessories for avid gamers and professionals who want the best performance without a lot of hassles.

Windows 7 Pre-order Offer Slashes Prices

Microsoft Cuts Price in Half for Two Versions of Its Latest OS

Users of the much maligned Windows Vista operating system are counting down the days until October 22, 2009, the date that Microsoft will release Vista’s replacement, Windows 7. Microsoft has programmed in a variety of features designed to attract new users to its latest operating system. To further entice them to purchase this product, Microsoft now offers a pre-order purchase plan which cuts in half the regular price of two of the four Window 7 editions.

Pre-order Offer Specifics

Current Windows XP and Windows Vista users can pre-order either a Windows 7 Home Premium edition upgrade or a Windows 7 Professional edition upgrade from the Microsoft Store or from other retailers. From June 26, 2009 through July 11, 2009, they may order these editions at half the product’s list price. The Home Premium edition, regularly $119.99, sells for $49; the Professional edition, regularly $199.99, sells for $99. Features of the Windows 7 Editions

Buyers Need to Study Differences Between the Four Versions

Windows 7, Microsoft's new operating system scheduled to be released October 22. 2009, comes in four separate editions – Starter, Home Premium, Professional, and Ultimate. Those who are considering purchasing Windows 7 need to understand the different features available in these editions.

Features Available in All Windows 7 Editions

The four Windows 7 editions share several enhancements designed to make working with multiple windows easier. These include taskbar improvements and the new Snap feature.
  1. Windows 7’s taskbar now allows thumbnail previews of open applications when users point the mouse at icons located there.
  2. The Snap feature resizes windows in specific ways when users drag them to the left, right, top or bottom edges of the screen.
Entertainment features common to all editions include a new Games Explorer and enhancements to Windows Media Player. For users who consider Gadgets as an entertainment feature, that too has been improved.
  1. The Games Explorer allows retrieval of newsfeeds and software updates for installed games.
  2. Windows Media Player 12 adds the ability to stream music and video to other home computers and to devices like the Xbox 360 through the new Play To feature.
  3. Gadgets, introduced in Windows Vista, can now be moved anywhere on the screen, eliminating the need for Vista’s sidebar.
File management enhancements in all editions include improvements to Windows Search and to Backup and Restore, as well as the addition of a new Libraries feature.
  1. Windows Search provides an instant categorized response to a search term typed into the Start Menu search box.
  2. Backup and Restore allows users to back up data to a DVD, to a different drive, or to a network.
  3. The Libraries feature lets users access all their documents for a specific function from one location, even though the individual files remain elsewhere.
All Windows 7 editions share improved access to networks and to computer peripherals. The View Available Networks interface now creates a two-click connection to wireless and wired networks from the taskbar. The Devise Stage feature and the Devices and Printers folder allow users to view and control everything that is connected to their computer from one place.

Additionally, all Windows 7 versions include the new Action Center, which allows users to view system alerts from the taskbar, and Jump Lists, application-specific listings of most frequently used documents and commands that appear when users right-click a taskbar icon. All versions also come with Internet Explorer 8, Microsoft’s newest Internet browser, except in countries whose laws prohibit its inclusion.

Features Available in Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate Editions

The Home Premium, Professional, and Ultimate editions of Windows 7, while including the features listed above, also gain new enhancements in the areas of user interface, accessibility, networking and entertainment.

Windows 7 improves its Aero user interface by adding the Aero Shake and Aero Peak features. Aero Shake lets users minimize all but one selected window with a shake of the mouse. Aero Peak turns windows transparent when the mouse is pointed at the right edge of the taskbar.

Windows 7 simplifies life for those with home networks with its new HomeGroup feature. This enhancement makes it easier for them to share files and printers.

Users of the Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate editions also benefit from a new entertainment feature. The Windows Media Center adds the ability to view and to record live television shows.

Touch screen technology, a major access improvement, is yet another feature unique to these three editions with Windows Touch. Users must also have touch-sensitive screens to take advantage of this feature.

Features Available in Windows 7 Professional and Ultimate Editions

Windows 7's Professional and Ultimate editions add new networking and software compatibility features to all previously listed enhancements. The Domain Join wizard enhances Windows 7's networking capabilities by making it easy to work on an office or other restricted network from home.

Businesses and individuals using Windows XP applications will appreciate the Windows XP Mode feature of these two editions. The Windows XP Mode lets users run older XP applications from their desktops without compatibility issues.

Features Available in Windows 7 Ultimate Edition

The Windows 7 Ultimate edition adds two more key features to those found in the three other versions. The multi-language feature of the Ultimate edition allows users to work in any of 35 languages. The Ultimate edition also adds BitLocker encryption, which protects files on portable devices as well as on hard drives.

Windows 7 Revealed

Microsoft’s new OS takes users to the Promised Digital Land

Windows Vista never lived up to its billing; it was the binary equivalent of an OCD complex, unwilling to allow any system changes without clicking through numerous system warnings. The only recourse was to disable the security feature altogether, leaving the system vulnerable to third party malware. This all-or-nothing approach to the OS cost Microsoft dearly: many users opted to steer clear of Vista in favour of the tried-and-trusted XP. Unfortunate, as Vista isn’t all bad.

Replacing Broken Windows

With Windows 7, Microsoft has learned its lessons well. Listening closely to the multitude of feedback from loyal adopters and user forums, the best elements of the Vista OS have been married to a global wish list of must-have features. The result is both renovation and innovation, with users understandably curious as to whether or not the new Windows is worth the cost of an upgrade, or if it is simply another disappointment waiting to happen. Available as a release candidate for download on Microsoft’s website right now, all serious users are advised to give the new Windows a whirl.

The New Windows Experience

For the first time since Windows 95, the heavy (and expected) focus on marketing is accompanied by a sincere effort on the part of the designers to ensure that the new operating system hits the mark. Recent news reports that Windows 7 was on schedule came as a shock to many; Microsoft may have finally hit a bullseye. Some of the newest features of Windows 7 will entice users at all levels:
  • New Windows Aero effects allow users with powerful graphics cards to add visual panache to their desktops.
  • New window organization schemes allow open windows to be accessed from the Toolbar through visual representations of each open document or webpage, which can then be selected or closed. Another great feature is the ability to “peek” through open windows and see the Desktop.
  • Less obtrusive security means that the OS will not ask for repetitive confirmations when installing software. Best of all, users need not disable the security features altogether, ensuring protection against intruders and malware.
  • Improved driver support ensures that the vast majority of hardware will work right out of the box. Windows 7 will automatically attempt to find and install any required drivers during installation, meaning less intervention from the user.
  • Unlike Vista’s hit-and-miss ability to run older programs, Windows 7 provides full XP compatibility. Microsoft claims that almost every piece of code written for XP will run on Windows 7, providing a clear upgrade path for XP users.
These new features are on display in the Release Candidate, however indications are that Microsoft will further improve or enhance these items prior to the retail release.

Upgrade Checklist

When attempting an upgrade to Windows 7 (or any OS for that matter), it is important to follow some simple guidelines for a successful, trouble-free installation.
  • System specifications should be in line with the Windows 7 requirements.
  • Download and run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor. Any recommendations should be addressed prior to upgrading.
  • All important files should be backed up!
  • Download the appropriate 32-bit or 64-bit version of the program. The low cost of memory and other computer hardware, as well as increased driver support, allows users to realize the many advantages of true 64-bit systems (such as improved multitasking, access to more than 4 gigabytes of memory), which are rapidly gaining popularity as more users switch over.
  • Choose whether or not to upgrade an existing OS (recommended for casual users and novices) or whether to perform a fresh install (recommended for advanced users). Upgrades require Administrator privileges.
  • Allocate enough time for the installation. At least two hours should be set aside to install the OS and all needed drivers, and to ensure that the core system works properly; if reinstalling additional software afterwards, more time will be required. Installs should never be rushed.
  • Windows Update should be performed after the installation to ensure that the latest patches and updates are installed on the system.
While some steps are specific to Windows 7, following these general guidelines reduces the risk of data loss and the downtime of the host system.

The Windows 7 Release Candidate is not a finished product, so users must proceed at their own risk. Not all features are necessarily present in this build, either. However, for the adventurous, the Windows 7 RC is an elegant and truly productive piece of software that provides productivity and sex appeal. While not a complete Windows overhaul, it certainly boasts enough new features to make a large and positive difference. It is not often that users get the chance to test drive an OS so close to the finished product. The final retail version of Windows 7 is scheduled for release on October 22, 2009.

Review of Windows 7 Pro

Beyond Windows Vista; Exploring Microsoft's Next OS

Quite a lot, as it turns out, at least in the early going. According to Seth Rosenblatt, editor of CNET, "Windows 7 is more than just spin. The public testing process, involving one limited-availability beta and one release candidate... constitutes what some are calling the largest shareware trial period ever."

User-Friendly Interface

Sounds like Microsoft has been tapping into the all-important pubic opinion before thrusting another virgin product onto the shelves. From this refreshing due diligence apparently comes gratifying results, as Rosenblatt goes on to say that 7 is the "most user-friendly interface Microsoft has ever had."

With a new sophisticated and translucent style, 7's taskbar is now being compared by some to the glorified and iconic Mac OS X dock. This shiny new look is all thanks to Aero Peek, the feature that allows for the taskbar's polished luster as well as improved usability. But praise for the resurrected taskbar does not stop there as it also sports a handy mouse-over and preview feature as well as what it calls "jump lists," a file organization and display method similar to Stacks, a feature introduced in Mac OS version 10.5 (Leopard).

And no more searching for that pesky and often disappearing "Show Desktop" icon as it has now (finally) been permanently ingrained into the skin of the taskbar itself.

New Media Management Tools

No less impressive, changes to Windows Media Player in the words of Rosenblatt actually "makes [it ] useful again." Simplified set up, improved usability, and the technology to stream from computer to computer even out of network are some of the keynotes that rescue WMP from the dusty software storage chest.

Additionally, in recognition that managing peripherals was sometimes a complicated and tedious process, especially when searching for the elusive and often irksome "Safely Remove Hardware" icon, 7 has introduced Device Stage. Windows Device Stage covers all the hippest new gadgets like printers, phones, and portable media players into a single status window that boasts a clipped summary of important stats on each device. Support for older devices is also a great feature, but, in a bit of an odd oversight, Bluetooth is not supported without a driver download.

Windows XP Mode

Perhaps the most exciting and deeply laudable change from Vista to 7 is the available XP Mode. A mantra to backward compatibility, users the world over will love that Microsoft hasn't just discarded the old for the sake of diving head first into the new. Technology savvy folks everywhere have been clinging desperately to XP for years while the bloated and obtuse Vista bungles its way into extinction, so let heralds sing and trumpeters trumpet that programs designed for XP (and not upgraded to Vista or 7) will continue to be supported.

XP Mode is actually a virtual environment inside of Windows 7 and can be reportedly difficult to install. This is often due to the fact new software demands new hardware, at least somewhat new hardware. The trouble is that motherboards older than two years will not support the Hardware Virtualization Technology needed to power the virtual XP environment. Reportedly, even if the MB is still young and vivacious, the system BIOS may need a little tweaking before the software actually cooperates.

All that being said, according to reportedly tested hardware requirements, users can get away with running 7 alone on a Pentium 4 with 2 GB of RAM, but shouldn't expect to use an old graphics card.

Windows 7 Release Date

So there is still plenty of time to see if computers meet minimum standards before 7's official release date in late October, though even now the OS is available in the following flavors: "BETA," "Candidate", and "RTM." Pre-ordering is also a good option and will save about $100 dollars off the full price of $299.99 (according to Dell).

Indeed, the tech world is abound with buzz at Microsoft's new and wonderful offering, and critics, at least in the preliminary stages, are cautiously enthusiastic. Despite all of this, and with Vista looming as a not so distant lesson, many of us may still be feeling just a little bit tentative.
